Jon Barber:
Son of a US Army Green Beret Colonel and a painter. He grew up moving around all over the country and spent 5 years in Germany. He went to college at the University of Vermont and studied American Literature, Journalism and German. He also studied at the Universitat Salzburg for one semester. In 1995, he started his career in advertising by creating websites for primarily tourism related firms. A year later, he left for LA to learn how to make TV commercials. Instead of going to film school, he learned it by working for many different directors as an assistant, a casting director and a production coordinator. He has worked with agencies such as BBDO NY, J.Walter Thompson, Dentsu and few small local boutique agencies. In 2002, Jon directed “The Mission,” an internet short movie for Subaru. In 2003, he was a finalist at the Cannes Young Director competition. Jon just finished shooting two Coke commercials for McCann/Erickson Shanghai. |
